Flesh and Bone.
Shakespearean lyricism meets the ferocious rhythm of an East London estate.
SOHO THEATRE, LONDON · 3 – 21 JULY 2018
ESTATE VERSE · FAMILY · SURVIVAL
What a piece of work is a man.
An East London tower block is scheduled for demolition. Inside it, Terrence, Kelly, Reiss, Jamal and Grandad fight, joke, hustle and hold one another together, each hiding something the others are not supposed to know.
Elliot Warren's play fuses movement, monologue and group vignettes into a fast, physical eighty minutes, its language half Elizabethan verse and half contemporary London street. Made by Unpolished Theatre, it travelled from the Edinburgh Fringe to Adelaide and on to Soho Theatre, presented in association with Eastlake Productions.

What they said.
“A punchy, high-octane jaunt … part Shakespearean poetry, part Anglo-Saxon filth.”
“Devastatingly eloquent, Elliot Warren's script fuses movement, monologues and group vignettes into a gritty yet Shakespearean explosion of life.”
“A sinuous, focused and muscular piece of drama that enters with the confidence of a boxer who knows the title belt is his.”
“Flesh and Bone gives a voice to post-Grenfell, Brexit, austerity London. It gives a voice to those who would otherwise be unheard.”
“An affectionate, entertaining and unapologetically irreverent tribute to a community that's much more than a caricature.”
